Grow It Forward Market
The goal of the Grow It Forward Market at the 5th Annual Spring Hill ‘Pay It Forward’ Community Festival is to help bring greater awareness to our local farm producers and agriculture grass-root entities in our community who Pay It Forward in many ways that benefit us all.
This year’s Grow It Forward Market is represented by the non-profit organization ‘Common Ground of Spring Hill’ who are dedicated to growing a healthy Spring Hill. They envision an innovative project that promotes a safe, family-friendly, all organic environment where citizens and families can come together to garden as a community and fellowship. They have currently launched successfully the Spring Hill Community Garden and the Spring Hill Children’s Garden. They also host related workshops and provide advice and instructions for best practices in community gardening projects.

Blue Shed Gardens is another initiative that advocates sustainable gardening practices and encourages the use and knowledge of heirloom, organic, non-gmo seeds. They will be sponsoring the Children’s planting area where owner and Master Gardener, Dave Townsend will teach children the importance of gardening this way and encourage them to get more involved in growing plants themselves. Dave is also a successful blogger who has thousands flocking weekly to his blog to learn and share on hundreds of topics on gardening. Dave also is affiliated with the Common Ground of Spring Hill non-profit.

In addition, SpringHillFRESH.com has formed a Local Food Advocacy called the ‘Farm to Table’ Initiative. Their vision is to help provide access, information and opportunities where our communities can flourish in serving one another and serving the greater good for our area. That includes the promotion of a healthy local food system which includes but is not limited to, our local farmers and food producers, processors, distributors, restaurants, markets, community gardens, local schools, agri-business, health educators and to us…the local consumer.

We are on to something here and believe the Grow It Forward concept goes hand in hand with the Spring Hill ‘Pay It Forward’ Community Festival efforts and look forward to what the future holds for our willingness to work together for a healthier Spring Hill!
